A half-birthday…

Today Madi got to celebrate her “half” birthday at school.  We’ve been hearing non-stop about her half-birthday for days now – even sang her “happy 1/2 birthday” this morning (even though her 1/2 birthday was yesterday).  I had contemplated making snowman cupcakes but couldn’t logistically figure it out – instead, I made snowflakes (or what kinda resembles snowflakes) out of white chocolate and then made ridiculously yummy chocolate cupakes with cream cheese frosting.  Not a box mind you, I actually melted chocolate, totally frome scratch.  Tons of fun and of course a very big happy 1/2 birthday to my wonderful Madi!

A fancy girl!

We went to a really fun birthday party this past weekend and it was a “fancy” theme.  Well Madi got really into it and I actually made her skirt for her.  I bought 22 yards of tulle, ribbon, jewels, etc.  Then we bought the boa, I made her headband, so much fun!  I just LOVE having girls!

Chinese New Year!

I’m sure you’ve tried to guess where my last name originates as it’s pretty obvious I’m not of any Asian descent.  My husband is half Taiwanese and as such, our girls are a 1/4 Chinese as well.  This weekend at the fairgrounds the annual Chinese New Year celebration was held so we decided to check it out.  Of course, the highlight was the dragon parade/dance….

Yay Abby – Contest Winner!

Abby is the contest winner.  If you haven’t figured it out – the photo is the back wall of my NEW STUDIO SPACE!  I’m incredibly excited about this.  I’ve been now pouring over websites & magazines for decorating ideas.  I can’t wait to have it completed.  It’s in the Golden Belt development in downtown Durham and it’s still currently under construction with a projected completion date of early May.

BLOG CONTEST #1…guess the photo

As I mentioned in my newsletter that was sent out last night, I’m going to have a few blog contests this year.  Really just to have some fun.  Sometimes they’ll be easy, sometimes it will be more of a challenge.  Here’s the first one.

The first person to correctly identify this picture will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card compliments of moi!  That’s good for at least 2 grande mochas :)

The rules:
1. If you already know the answer, you are not eligible
2. You must email your answer to me – the time stamp will determine who wins in the event of multiple correct answers
3. You may guess more than once but you can only submit one answer each time

So….here’s the photo.  Guess what you are looking at:

2008 Brides!

If you didn’t receive my newsletter last night — please remember to schedule your boudoir, engagement or bridal portrait session to occur approx. 2-3 months before your wedding.  This will give us enough time to get any prints, canvases or custom products (i.e. guest books, gallery cards, etc.) back from my lab.

Thanks!

The beauty of snow…

I grew up in upstate NY near the Pennsylvania border.  So winter to me is snow, it’s just a part of me.  I still struggle not having white Christmases.  So needless to say, I was deliriously happy when we had snow over the weekend.  We ran out and bought sleds and had a blast sledding in our yard.  This was taken of part of my backyard bright and early on Sunday morning.

WEDDINGS 2008

I have VERY few slots remaining for 2008.  I haven’t decided exactly where I’m going to cap my year, but I do know that I don’t have many available dates remaining.

Definitely inquire if I have a date available, if I’m not, I know many amazing photographers in the area that I’d be more than happy to refer to you.

2009 brides….come on down!

Princess Soccer

Yes, I realize you may be thinking “you mean soccer princesses, right?” or even “what in the world are you talking about?”  Today was one of those REALLY rare (and I mean REALLY rare) days we stayed home.  There was no preschool, no appointments, we just got to hang out.  Granted, I fielded a ton of email and phone calls – but we were home, so I got to stay in my jammies a bit longer than normal.

Something that started over the past summer in our house was “Princess Soccer.”  Basically my girls dress up in their princess gear and play soccer.  I think it’s absolutely hysterical because they are in heels, dresses and blasting away on a soccer ball.  So I decided to take pictures of it.

My little one who proves you can never be too young for heels….

Sorry it’s been quiet…

My apologies for not blogging in a week….trust me, it’s not that I’m not busy.  I’ve had an incredible surge of inquiries & consultations from the bridal show so I’ve been very busy with lots of behind the scenes work.  I’m also still trying to get a newsletter together, new marketing materials & more.

So I’m around — just pounding away on my keyboard right now!

The Wedding Show!!

I’m having such a great time at the Wedding Show.  If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, you still have one more day tomorrow.  I believe show hours are 11am-4pm – but check Forever Bridal’s site to be sure.  My booth is the last row along the wall (near the amazing Triangle Catering).  Here’s 2 images from my booth:

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to my newly improved blog – well it’s actually just a smidge redesigned.  I’m still working on some things as I’m hosting it myself now which is a bit of a challenge for me.  But I like it a lot and hope you do as well.

I can’t thank everyone enough for the most amazing 2007 – I’m really looking forward to this year.  I have so many things planned both personally and professionally, should be a great year for me.

Happy New Year again and definitely be watching your email in the next couple of weeks for some huge announcements!
