My PSA of the day…

Ok, so my PSA of the day – TAKE AN UMBRELLA IF YOU ARE GOING OUTSIDE!  Doesn’t matter if you are just going 5 feet, take the umbrella.

Don’t learn the hard way like Madi, Sydney and I did today – we went into Southpoint Mall just fine – tried to leave and saw it was pouring so I put Madi on my back, Sydney was in the stroller, I took off my heels (because I’m always in heels lately), rolled up my jeans and ran for the car.  Fortunately the girls thought it was the most fun thing ever, me, not so much!

I still haven’t completely dried out yet…

So take the umbrella! :)

Almost baby time…

On Saturday morning, I had the pleasure of photographing an amazing couple as they anticipate the arrival of their very first child.  I loved when we got to see the baby move inside mom’s tummy, brought back such a flood of emotions for me with my own pregnacies.  This little baby is coming into a house filled with love and joy and happiness.

And yes, you’ll notice it’s a bit of a different look for me.  I’m getting into textures, I really love the way they can treat a photo.  I won’t heavily use them as they can be a bit much, but certain photos, I think they really add to them – I hope you agree.

First haircut!

Sydney got her first haircut on Saturday!  We went to the lovely ladies at Peek-A-Do at Southpoint and she did such a great job.  She picked out the little car to sit in and watched Dora the Explorer (she’s never seen Dora on TV, thankfully).  She was looking a little scruffy so now she has the cutest little bob in the back of her hair…looks adorable!

So Vegas….

Was amazing!!!  I realize I’m really behind on my blogging.  Vegas/WPPI for me was incredibly amazing.  Granted, I didn’t do a single “Vegas-y” type thing except lose $20 on quarter slots (which as a side note, aren’t even fun anymore – no coins, no ting ting ting ting ting when you win, it’s all paper ticket things, not fun!).  And we had to walk through the casino every single time we went from seminar to seminar, but that was my extent of seeing Vegas.

I went with the amazing Stacy Borelli of The Art Bouquet and Katie Hamister of Katie Hamister Photography and it was so great spending time with them.  Made the 5 1/2 hour flight on Southwest so much more tolerable.  They are both incredible women, incredible photographers, fantastic people to be around.

It was my first time attending WPPI and I’m already making plans to go next year.  I’ll definitely do a few things differently more so I just rest a bit more, but really, the experience was truly life changing for me.  The speakers and seminars were just incredible.  One photographer moved me to tears (ok, probably in my defense it was from exhaustion but still, she struck a chord with me, and what she said was incredibly powerful for me to hear).

I didn’t take my “real” cameras, just my handy little Canon G9 (which I do recommend as a cute little point & shoot – but here’s a few little shots from our time out in Sin City.

(Here’s Katie, Stacy & myself in the elevator at Paris – as much as we tried, can’t make those little convention badges look cute)!

Horton Hears a What!?

We are going to the movies tonight?  I can’t believe I’m seeing something on the day it opens.  I know, I’m so lame – but really, I can’t remember the last movie I saw on the day it was released.  So I went to Southpoint last night and got our tickets to the 6:15 showing of Horton Hears a Who.  So if you see the 4 of us…say hi :)

I do love bags…

As I mentioned in my previous post, I love bags.  It’s just my thing – that and shoes.  I’m a girly girl, nothing I can do about it.  I was at Swoozies this weekend at Southpoint and saw this bag on Saturday.  I immediately fell in love.  BUT, I didn’t buy it immediately.  I looked at it online, thought about it, called my sister, etc.  It’s a very big bag, my sister and I justified that it is a “travel bag” and therefore, a necessity.  So on Sunday, right after lunch, I went back, chatted with the wonderful ladies….and bought the bag!

Now, I can’t wait to take it to Vegas on Sunday!

Help with a bag…

I just bought this bag less than 2 weeks ago.  An indulgence I haven’t had in probably almost 3 years (I know, pretty bad).  I have a thing for bags and shoes.  I love, love, LOVE this bag, so you can imagine my shock and horror when I scratched it pretty bad this weekend when I was out of town.  It’s not torn, just kind of badly brush-burned.  If anyone knows how to make it less bad (or has a contact at Coach), let me know….but it’s still pretty, isn’t it?

My day in court…

Ok so I have a court date today…I have a speeding ticket.  It’s horrible, I cried when I got pulled over.  I was so frustrated.  I got bombarded with the tens of letters from attorneys that you get (which I find odd, in all the states I’ve lived in I’ve never seen that, then again, until I moved to North Carolina I’ve never been pulled over).  I decided to call a local attorney and have it taken care of as I really didn’t want my insurance to go up.

So hopefully for me, I’m just going to get traffic school and a fine…

I was going to ask my bride’s to wear “Save Robin” t-shirts and show up in support of me today, but then I thought otherwise :)

Stay tuned!

Allison & Ryan’s Engagement Session

I can’t even begin to express how much fun I had this weekend in Charleston with Allison & Ryan.  I’m so unbelievably excited about their wedding in the beginning of May, it’s going to be great.  When they mentioned that Charleston was a very special city to them, I jumped at the chance to do their engagement session there.  I think we all thought it was magical.  There is no denying how in love they are.  All I told them to do was just talk to each other, I offered very little direction.  I couldn’t have asked for a better outcome.  Thanks again to both of you!  See you soon!

I honestly can’t tell which shot is my favorite, the one above or this one below…they are both so different and evoke such different emotions.
