{Leiana + Stewart} Kiss Me – Life & Science Museum

So when I was confirming my Kiss Me session with Leiana I mentioned the weather didn’t sound great for this weekend and she said she was totally ok with rain and said she might even get cute boots and umbrella.  Of course, I was actually hoping for a little _drizzle_ just so we had something to work with.  Now anyone in the greater Raleigh area will know we had basically the hardest rain I’ve seen in a while yesterday afternoon, and Leiana + Stewart were absolutely wonderful about their session and we managed to pretty much stay dry the entire time (thanks guys)!!

We started off at the Butterfly House at the Museum of Life & Science.  Not only is it one of my favorite museums in the area but it will be the reception site for their wedding at the end of April (and it’s also where Leiana works).  Surprisingly it was incredibly busy for a late Saturday afternoon, which made it a little challenging but we just worked around the people.  And then afterwards, we headed over to the American Tobacco Campus, always a great location to shoot.  And while the rain was coming down in what seemed in buckets, we stuck to the covered areas and it worked out just fine.

Leiana + Stewart, I am so excited about being a part of your wedding.  You guys have so much fun together, I had a blast with you yesterday and you are both such incredibly beautiful people inside and out.  Thank you for everything!

{Megan + Mike} Maternity Session

I really don’t think I’ve ever met such in love, relaxed parents-to-be as Megan + Mike.  They are so adorable and their little girl who should be arriving in about 5 weeks is really, really lucky.  Plus they have super fabulous family in Heidi & Evan as well.  The whole time I was with them I was thinking “wow, I was not this relaxed just 5 weeks before having my first child”.

Megan + Mike, I hope everything goes so well for you guys if I don’t see you before the delivery and I can’t wait to see your new little one for her newborn session!  Thank you again!

{My WPJA Win}

A good friend of mine emailed me this morning to tell me I had placed in the 2008 4th quarter of the WPJA.  I have been entering the contests for about 3 quarters now without any success.  It is incredibly frustrating because while you think you have what the judges are looking for, you never know.  But it’s also a good feeling because it pushes you harder to keep looking and keep shooting.  I must say, the one image I entered that well, most people thought would at least place somewhere, didn’t – but this one (which really does make me smile every time) – placed 10th in Humor, earned me a blue ribbon and was actually my very last frame in the garter removal of Jess & Jon’s wedding in October.  Thank you Jess & Jon for making me (and the judges) smile and earning my first WPJA win!

{Grace + Alex} Kiss Me

Grace + Alex are going to have a super fabulous wedding on October 10 at the Barn at Valhalla and I couldn’t be more delighted that I’m going to be a part of it.  Seriously, I am truly honored.  When Grace called me earlier this week to move up their Kiss Me session by a week I was really looking forward to it.  We did an urban session for them in Durham, and it was incredible.  I just enjoy every moment I’m around them.  Thanks so much guys, hope you had a great evening!

A little texture and grunge but not too much….

{Betsy + Tony} Kiss Me

Yesterday I had a lot of fun chatting with Betsy and Tony about their upcoming September wedding in Minnesota, which sounds absolutely fantastic.  Then we went out and documented their “Kiss Me” session (my first engagement session of 2009).  The weather couldn’t have been better if we asked for it and their nerves quickly dissappeared and we  had an absolutely fantastic time together.  Thanks so much again guys!

{Two Cute} Little Ones

I had an absolutely wonderful start to my Saturday morning with this little one.  Hard to believe she just turned two only recently.  She has the most incredible vocabulary and knowledge of the world, she just left me speechless at times, and she’s super cute too!

{Baby Q} Newborn/Little Ones

I was so excited when Charlotte emailed me to tell me that their new baby boy had finally arrived.  I couldn’t wait to go over and meet him.  Just 10 days old when I finally had the chance to photograph him, he’s such an adorable little guy.  I think he looks so much like his dad and he has come into a family so filled with love and with the most amazing parents.  I’m really looking forward to his 3-month session (which will be here in the blink of an eye).

{A Very Special Weekend} My Life

I realize this is a highly personal post for me, but I wanted to share it with you.  This past weekend I took my 2nd (in what I truly hope to be an annual event) “Madi/Mommy” trip.  Last year I went to Chicago with her, this year we went to NYC.  We had the most amazing time.  Spending the weekend together was so fantastic – Madi is such an incredible little girl, growing up so, so incredibly fast.  We stayed in Times Square (truly a great decision).  And did all the “tourist sights”.  Of course, our trip was extended a day because of the snowstorm that hit the city on Sunday night/Monday morning but really, it just meant we spent the day at the American History Museum, something we both really enjoyed.  I know there are things I missed, moments, people that I didn’t capture, but fortunately for me they are in my head…and souvenirs have been purchased that I can treasure.

Thank you for sharing this with me.  Enjoy!

{LUSH hits Raleigh} My Life

Probably none of you know this about me (except the extreme blog stalkers), but I’m a total LUSH junkie.  It all started when I was working in Washington, DC and a co-worker/friend of mine went to London for work, she came back with “Bath Bombs” from a shop called LUSH.  Needless to say, it’s been a very expensive, crazy path since then.  For those not familiar with LUSH products, they are totally environmentally-friendly, very-organic and super fun.  They have everything from lotion to shampoo to these yummy  things that you drop into baths that can range from just making the water nice and soft to sparkly and bubbly (and I’m not even a fan of baths).  Both of the girls are now addicts as well.

So today I was talking to a friend and she told me LUSH is now at Crabtree mall!  I’m floored and just had to share it with everyone!  Seriously, next time you are Crabtree, just stop in, at least smell the place, it’s yummy!!  Just try one product :)
