{Courtney + Denny} Kiss Me – Raleigh Wedding

Courtney & Denny are getting ready for a fantastic wedding this November and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.  We got together recently for their engagement session in downtown Durham.  I love shooting in Durham, there are so many amazing places to go which provide many really unique architectural elements and they were really up for anything.

Thanks so much guys!

{The Beach}

One of our other trips this August was to the beach, specifically Hatteras Island.  This was actually our first full week of vacation in over 5 years – probably closer to 6 – 6 1/2 years.  Yes, we do take many, MANY trips but they are always long weekends or we fit them over holiday weekends but we never get to go anywhere for 7 nights straight.  So really, this sounded like heaven to me and I absolutely love going to beach with my girls and my husband.  We had an absolutely amazing time – spending the mornings on the beach, coming back for lunch, napping every day then heading back out to the beach in the afternoon.  It was everything we needed and more.  And even better we spent serious time together.  As much as my husband and I took tons of work with us – we didn’t do any of it.  We actually talked, played Scrabble in the evenings (that’s sort of a family tradition) and watched TV, just vegged – it was the most boring and yet peaceful vacation I’ve ever had.  I have a few very favorite images I wanted to share…

{Vintage Aircraft} Personal

Every year we take a trip up North (way up North) for as long as I can remember.  The past two years we’ve actually turned it into a camping trip – I have to say this year I enjoyed camping immensely.  I grew up camping a lot so I’m not adverse to camping as long as it’s not really hot – I don’t even mind rain (and when I say camping this is real tent/sleeping bag camping).

But one of my favorite things to photograph is vintage aircraft.  I probably still love it so much because I don’t do it very often.  But I love it because they are so beautiful, so meticulously cared for by their owners, they all have stories (both good and bad) and you can just look at them and in all their glory.  Even though they are older than probably everyone I know by decades, they still run flawlessly…they are these beautiful machines.

Just wanted to share just 2 images…

{Laura + Mike} Wedding – La Grande Maison, Mebane

Laura + Mike had a beautiful (albeit hot) wedding in late July.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day for a wedding in Mebane at La Grande Maison, a sprawling garden and Inn for those who have never been to the grounds.  I feel very honored to have been a part of their day and I can’t thank them enough.

They had fabulous details.  I loved the limes, the lime green color and yellow accents!

{Little Hiatus}

So I’m kind of going on a break…well at least a blogging break…probably for about a month.  I have plenty to blog about, I took a trip last week and will be taking another one soon.  It’s the heat of the summer, lots going on both in the studio and my personal life and I’m just taking a little down time.  I’m not one of those people who takes down time but I actually read a book last week (and I LOVE to read), so it’s nice.

I’ve really focused this year on my schedule and my calendar and tried to balance the studio with my personal life and I have to say, it’s been pretty nice.  I even have a tan (and for those that know me know that I’m about as pasty and fair as it gets and right now I’m pretty dark).

So I appreciate everyone’s patience, know I’m totally working, just at a wee bit slower pace – still cranking away on albums, lots of great behind the scenes stuff and I’m excited about some roll out for this fall!

Thanks!!
